Meet Your Host for the Triangle Yoga Festival: Vianka Cotton

We are 52 days from the Triangle Yoga Festival, and we are 9 days away from Christmas and 16 days away from New Year's Eve! Who's ready for all 3? Me!

I know Christmas is literally next week, but after Christmas that's when we tend to start to think of next year! And if you are thinking about starting a new routine or want to do something new in 2025, you have come to the right place!

Peak Fit Events is all about doing something new and fun, and we cannot wait to share our events for 2025! We got some special things coming up.

Our first event of the 2025, season is the Triangle Yoga Festival, and before we dive into every single detail, more than what we did last week, I wanted to introduce to your hosts behind the yoga festival.

Vianka, Jasmine, and Bridget.

The next few blog post will be dedicated to meeting our team!

In this post, we will meet Vianka (Vee).

Hi, I am Vee (That's me, author of this post)

Vee owner of Peak Fit Events LLC
Owner of Peak Fit Events LLC, former fitness instructor and trainer, aspiring writer and content creator.

I started my fitness trainer journey in 2018, after I took my first Soul Cycle Class in Chicago, I was hooked! I dove into the fitness industry headfirst, bumping my head at the bottom of the pool (ouch). That Fall, I quit my job as a customer service representative to pursue fitness full-time. It was hard as heck! I started at Raleigh Row House, when they first opened, and I climbed the ranks and became a manager at other fitness studios in Raleigh, NC.

Working in fitness gave me so much confidence and it allowed me to make up the time I lost in the pursuit of basketball. There are somethings about the fitness industry that can really change your life, and there are other things about the fitness industry that need to be changed.

I got burned out fast, and there were things that I experience that I did not like.

I left the industry in 2023 and then fitness festivals and fitness events were born! My goal is to make fitness fun and accessible and bring the Apex community and beyond closer to fitness and wellness (FYI I'm working on a special fitness project for the town of Apex as I write).

With this Yoga Festival, I am stepping out of my comfort some and dabbling in the word of yoga to bring it to this wonderful Town, because Apex needs inclusivity through movement. Some say that I'm crazy for doing these fitness festivals, but others might say I'm a visionary. I don't know. You decide!

Q & A with Vee

What is your sign?

I am a Taurus, we are grounded, stubborn and loyal AF

What is your passion?

My passion is changing and shifting the world through my words, voice, and my story. I also love fitness, but I'm no longer working for a gym or studio at this time! My main focus is to build Peak Fit Events and to build a strong wellness and fitness community in Apex.

What introduce you to yoga?

One of my girlfriends from college introduced me to yoga my sophomore year, I wasn't really into it at first. I was like I'm not a skinny blonde chick, so nope!

That was when I really didn't know much about it. I was later introduced to it by therapist in 2019.

It's crazy, that I had to go through something stressful to see the benefits. It helped me get through a tough time and I was like, "Omg, this helping me be a strong weightlifter too."

Why did you want to do a yoga festival?

Honestly, I didn't. I was scared to do it.

I'm not a yoga instructor; I'm not an expert or anything. I was extremely intimidated to put on a yoga festival. If I commit to doing a festival inspired by movement and fitness, it has to be done the right way.

Jasmine wanted to do it at the start, but it took me more convincing. It's not that I didn't believe it could, or should it happened, I just wasn't sure if I should be the one doing it.

After I spoke to yoga instructors from our other festivals, and called some local studios and yogis, that's when I was like, okay, I have the confidence, I can do this.

What is your favorite Yoga Teacher online or in person?

My favorite Yoga Teacher online is Charlie Flows, I love her accent and how strong she looks doing yoga. She is an incredible athlete. My favorite yoga teacher in person is that is tough one, probably Kat or Jessie. I don't know, I judge yoga teachers by their voice. If you have a good voice, you got me.

Do you currently have a yoga practice?

Yes, I do yoga about 3x a week, I wish I could do more, but I do get lazy with all the running I have been doing! However, I do meditation every night before I go to bed!

I had a yoga instructor tell me before, if you just lie down on a mat or sit in a chair and breathe in and out, you are doing yoga...
